GLA Children & Community Development Programs
If you want to interact with children, work on community building projects, and experience the amazing culture and community of Belize, look no further! On this program you'll have the chance to see Belize in an authentic and meaningful way. From visiting the world-renowned Belize Zoo to swimming in crystal-clear rainforest waterfalls, you'll build leadership skills and make life-long friends as you go.
Costa Rica is famous for its education system, including its impressive 98% literacy rate, and on this program you'll have a front row seat to the progress being made. You'll work on projects at local schools that directly benefit the children attending them. All the while, you'll form relationships with kids in the community as you share your cultures and interests.
On this program, students will have the opportunity to work with India's underserved children and volunteer on community projects that will improve the lives of the local children in two different regions. Service projects may include activities like refurbishing a classroom, tutoring children, assisting with homework, helping children practice English, and more!
On this program, you'll explore two of South Africa's nine provinces, spending the majority of your time in immersive exploration of Cape Town, known as the Mother City. You'll learn from diverse speakers and witness up-close how movements for social change shaped South African society following decades of Apartheid, and be a part of the change happening to address current social issues. Spend time volunteering at an early child development center, where you'll assist local teachers, work hands-on with students, and help with ongoing physical projects at the school to help make it a more useful environment.
Costa Rica is an ideal place for teens to discover what they can offer the world. Students on this program will tackle a number of different educational and environmental service projects within the local community, all while exploring the beautiful coastline, making new friends, and developing important leadership skills.
On this program, students will discover the true authentic Cuba - from the upbeat city of Havana to the rural countryside of Viñales. Students will participate in a variety of difference cultural activities such as art, Cuban film, historical tours, all while learning about and participating in community-led initiatives that will improve the lives of local children and their families.
See the long-term impact of past service projects firsthand on this program, as students in the DR dig in with their own community service initiatives. Along the way you’ll hit the beach, play sports and games with local kids, and go boating.
Students on this program really get a taste of all that Peru has to offer. You’ll focus on empowering Peruvian women who work in weaving co-ops creating Andean textiles and fabrics. Other volunteer projects will also include building new infrastructure to support community development. Away from service, visit a traditional shaman and Machu Picchu!
