Located at the crossroads of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, Europe and Africa, Spain’s history and culture are made up of a rich mix of diverse elements. Spanish culture is widely known for Flamenco music and dance, cuisine, fantastic beaches and lots of sunshine. But Spain has much more to offer than that. It is, and has been for thousands of years, one of the cultural centers of Europe. The art, architecture and history of the region have drawn the attention of the world for centuries, and although the vast majority of tourists seek the bustling metropolis of Madrid or Barcelona, the coastal communities and small mountain villages offer amazing scenery, unique foods, and friendly people. GLA offers trips to Spain for high school students exclusively, and our opportunities for teen volunteer abroad in Spain include travel to multiple regions of the country.
