Program Overview
On this program you will embark on a voyage to the Pacific that you never thought possible! Journey from ridge to reef on this tropical adventure to explore Fijian culture and the island way of life in this remote part of the world. While you’re here, collaborate with your new friends and local leaders to contribute to meaningful service projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the community. From exploring the villages you visit to snorkeling along coral reefs teeming with colorful fish, there will never be a shortage of adventure during your time in this island nation.

Community Service
Learn about life in a small Fijian village as you work on projects aimed at improving quality of life for residents of remote communities. We’ll be supporting sustainable infrastructure developments that promote healthy living. The exact details of your service project will vary depending on what’s needed most at the time of your arrival on program.
Immersive Learning
The many cultures of the vast Pacific region are immense in their variety, and Fiji is no exception. Experience Fiji’s rich culture and unique landscapes from locals through cultural workshops and community activities. You will be immersed (quite literally) in Fiji’s breathtaking underwater ecosystem, one of the world’s most diverse and vibrant. Learn more about the effects of climate change on this unique and delicate environment. See how the land and the sea are dependent on each other, and how Fiji’s people have acclimated to this unique and wondrous region. Visit a World War II historical site with a sunset lookout. You’ll experience Fijian dancing, weaving and underground cooking during your time on the island!
Adventure
No GLA program is complete without adventure! Fiji is an adventure lover’s dream destination, as it’s surrounded by water on all sides, while also having an immense island environment to discover. Explore these islands from above and below. Grab a snorkel and hit the water for some tremendous views of underwater habitats off the island’s coast. Go snorkeling over coral reefs and see how many different species of marine life you can spot along the way. Then, trek to different parts of Fiji and experience life in the Pacific from an adventurer’s point of view.
Lodging
Your Home Base in Fiji will be in an enclosed compound. Students share comfortable, gender-segregated rooms with roommates, and have access to bathrooms with Western-style toilets and showers.
