On Maui, marine conservation is the name of the game. Sea turtles in particular are threatened as their habitat is depleted. Green turtle populations are being impacted by events such as the 2018 hurricane that washed out the most important nesting beach for this species in the entire archipelago. Participate in beach and marine debris cleanups and aide with an underwater visual census, and employ more technologically advanced tracking methods. Other restoration projects will protect sea turtle habitat and may include tree planting, community education, or restoring facilities.
