Are you a recent college graduate trying to figure out what to do next? Still trying to find your stride in the working world? Join our international team for this 11 month internship in Costa Rica as part of our EduTerra Global Internship Program. Live and work in San José; Costa Rica’s centrally located, vibrant capital city, which gives you easy access to explore the most biodiverse country on the planet while taking your Spanish to the next level. EduTerra has three divisions: Global Leadership Adventures, Summer Springboard and Discover Corps. Meaningful experiences sit at the core of each branch of our organization and during your 11 month internship you will have the chance to work for one of these three divisions.

Global Leadership Adventures

The bulk of internship positions are with our largest division of programs: Global Leadership Adventures. The mission of these leadership programs is to inspire teens to realize their potential to transform the world and their role in it through service-learning international travel. Interning for GLA involves joining our Admissions team and wearing many hats. Your primary duty will be calling and emailing families who are interested in our programs and being the first touch-point for them. In this role you will be speaking with hundreds of families daily, as you work toward becoming a consultative sales and customer service expert! You will advise families from our portfolio of programs in 20 countries around the world and enjoy talking to families about these life-changing experiences. You will also have a hand in helping to prepare students to travel, supporting families while traveling in the summer and projects for other departments such as Marketing or Programs.

Discover Corps

Discover Corps offers “vacations with purpose” for families and adults in three categories: Volunteer Vacations, Nature & Wildlife Adventures, and Cultural Explorations. These trips embrace sustainable tourism practices and allow travelers to see the world in a meaningful way. Discover Corps offers the following internships:

Summer Springboard

There are also internships with our newest business, Summer Springboard. Summer Springboard is offers pre-college summer programs on the campuses of prestigious US universities. Students explore an academic interest while also learning about themselves and charting their personal path for success. Currently, programs such as Medicine, Business, and Engineering are offered at UC Berkeley and Yale University; however there are ambitious plans to scale this business greatly in the coming years. Interns will use consultative sales to enroll interested students and also work with enrolled students to prepare them for their summer program.

Requirements:

  • Must have graduated college before the start of the internship (October 2018)
  • Experience studying, living or traveling abroad
  • Previous Work experience; customer service or sales experience preferred
  • Strong Communication and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Flexible, Positive and Motivated
  • Full commitment to dates: Oct 1 to Aug 31

Benefits & Compensation

  • An exciting and comprehensive ongoing professional internship program

    • Comfortable, local homestay with private bedroom or shared with another intern (same gender); two meals per day provided
  • Monthly stipend
    • Stipend: $400 USD/month
  • Program year-end completion bonus of $2,500

  • Round-trip airfare to and from Costa Rica for start and end of program (October & August)
  • Round-trip airfare between the United States and Costa Rica (December break)
  • Financial and logistical assistance with immigration process; includes costs of birth certificate and FBI reports
  • Work schedule that allows for travel and exploration, 4-day work week
  • Visit an EduTerra program while in session during the summer
  • Spanish language classes, proficiency level appropriate
  • Spanish & cultural immersion in home stays

How To Apply & Timeline

Application Process

We will be reviewing completed applications and offering positions on a rolling basis. This is a highly competitive process and we will be screening all applicants carefully to ensure the best fit for the internship. We will continue accepting new completed applications until all positions are filled. Internship offers will be made on a rolling basis; we aim to fill all positions by  August 1, 2018. For this reason, please  get your application completed as soon as possible, so you can begin the interview process.

Step 1: Submit Online Application

Fill and submit an online application. If you experience any issues or do not receive a confirmation email from GLA, please email egi2019@experiencegla.com.

Step 2: Submit Sparkhire Video

Upon submission of your online application, you will receive a link to complete a recorded interview using Sparkhire. This step requires a video and microphone on your computer. You will be asked to record your responses to four questions.  We cannot offer technical assistance; if you need help, please contact Sparkhire directly. For questions related to the application you can email egi2019@experiencegla.com.

Step 3: Interviews

Once you complete steps 1 & 2, we will review your application, cover letter, resume and Sparkhire video. You must complete Step 1 and Step 2 in order to be considered. If your application is selected, we will invite you to a first interview via telephone. Successful candidates will complete a minimum of 3 phone interviews before they are offered a position.
