Belize: The Initiative for Children™ 21-Day Flagship Program

High school students who enroll on the three-week Belize: The Initiative for Children™ program will empower the next generation in Belize by staffing an empowering educational summer program for local youth.

Activities include leading local kids in experiential learning and outdoor activities that tie into their language lessons. These are just a few of the creative methods you’ll adopt to make learning more engaging.

Belize is the only nation in Central America where the national language is English. In fact, 1/3 of the population is under 15 years old. GLA students will have the opportunity to connect with local children through their shared language (and in so many other ways!).

But GLA programs aren't only about service-learning! If you’re joining us for our 21-Day Flagship Program, you'll take a guided journey through the majestic cave systems of Belize, with a chance of spotting ancient artifacts. You will also have the chance to snorkel over coral reefs with tropical fish on a weekend excursion to the island of Caye Caulker, and with luck - observe sea turtles, mantaees, dolphins and other marine mammals in the ocean.

And don't forget the friends you'll make. Whether you're splashing around on a snorkeling excursion, or collaborating on a service project to make a difference in the lives of local youth, you will meet teens who share your passion for travel and giving back to the world.
