"The trip went off without a hitch. I felt totally assured in GLA's ability to keep Serena safe. Serena came home with many highlights: the wonder of being immersed in another culture, the global awareness gleaned from the nightly discussions on human security issues, the good friendships cultivated with other students, the experience of having worked and played side by side with the local Dominicans and Haitians, the satisfaction of having worked hard on projects, and finally, the fun of swimming and snorkeling in the ocean and hanging out under the palms."

"My 17 year-old daughter did this trip and loved it! After three weeks she still didn't want to come home. She met some great like-minded students and they hope to arrange a mini reunion in a few months. The location, food and staff were terrific, according to her. Before she came home she was already thinking about another trip with GLA next summer. As a parent I thought GLA was extremely well organized and responsive before, during and after. They left no stone unturned in prepping students for the trip. I really liked that the students needed to complete a thorough application with thoughtful questions with enrollment. It was a good combination of service learning and cultural travel activities."

"This was my daughter's longest time away from home, and she had an amazing time. The GLA program offers great experiences in leadership, service and travel. Our daughter was one of the youngest in her group, and she felt comfortable as well very safe throughout. The program coordinators were helpful from beginning to end, available and thoughtful."
