Join Global Leadership Adventures on the northeastern coast of Brazil this summer for high school study abroad!

Live on the GLA campus in Fortaleza, Brazil, a region known for its unique Nordestino culture. Immerse yourself in the culture of one of the most diverse nations in the world during this unique community service trip for teens. South America offers so much: percussion, capoeira, handicrafts, dance and traditional African religion all co-exist alongside a growing economy with modern buildings and bustling streets. This is a perfect climate for high school study abroad.

Although Brazil is best known for its stunning beaches, it also suffers from one of the widest economic divides in the world and is an engaging environment for teen community service trips. South America has pockets of poverty; we are based in a community where over 80% of families receive government welfare, almost half of the children are engaged in child labor, and many have been abused and exploited. You'll volunteer with other high school students to help give these children a childhood - by playing sports, doing arts and crafts and teaching English.

Throughout this high school study abroad program, you'll meet leaders who are working to defend children's rights. We'll visit a non-profit that teaches kids hip-hop to get them off the streets or another organization that turns kids from the slums into world-class percussionists and dancers. This is an unforgettable teen community service trips in South America.

Due to Fortaleza's rich culture and reputation for being one of the safest cities in Brazil, this is an ideal location from which to explore the region and to help children reclaim some of their lost childhood.
