"Modern day India represents the largest democracy in the world with a seamless picture of unity in diversity unparalleled anywhere else."

—Rough Guide to India
Community Service

From Gandhi to modern activists, India has a long history of social activism and a culture of resilience when faced with adversity. It is in this environment of social change that you will serve.

You will experience India through interacting with people working at remarkable grassroots organizations. Volunteering abroad in India offers real insight to global issues; the creativity, strength, and dedication of the local people you work with will truly inspire you.

  • Orphanages, where students will interact with children by giving much needed attention, teaching basic English, and caring for their special needs.
  • Local schools and daycares in underprivilged areas, GLA students will teach English, play sports, and do arts and crafts with the students.
