Destination: Costa Rica
"Costa Rica is Central America's jewel. It's an oasis of calm among its turbulent neighbours and an ecotourism heaven, making it one of the best places to experience the tropics with minimal impact."

All students will learn Spanish from experienced Costa Rican teachers. Students are given a placement test on the first day and assigned a class based on the current ability. Spanish classes focus on improving spoken competency and increasing confidence when speaking to local Costa Ricans. Students will have the ability to practice their Spanish during their community service project. No prior knowlege of Spanish is required to participate on the program.
In addition to language, it’s important to learn about the local culture in order to fully appreciate Costa Rica. By participating in thought-provoking seminar discussions, led by knowledgeable instructors, and hearing from dynamic local leaders, students gain a more holistic experience of the country.
Some examples of past seminars are:
- Universal public health care in Costa Rica
- Meeting Costa Rican President Oscar Arias and former President Carazo
- Combating poverty in Costa Rica
- Costa Rican music workshop
