Cape Town : Service & Leadership Academy

Volunteer with Children in Cape Town South Africa summer program for students

"I have never seen such beauty and inspiration as I have in Cape Town. In the cliffs, the mountains, the animals, the Cape Mansions, the township houses, the hope, the people, the perseverance. I will never forget it."

—Kristin, Phillips Exeter Academy, USA
Overview

Global Leadership Adventures is excited to offer its flagship Cape Town program on the beautiful coastline of South Africa. Cape Town, famous for its harbor as well as its glorious natural setting, is an ideal location to explore leadership.

Against this backdrop of magnificent sites, South Africa is a dynamic nation to be experienced. The city is home to a rich colonial past, historic apartheid struggles and exciting economic rebirth.

2009 will mark the country's 15-year anniversary transition from Apartheid to democracy. Today, the rapid pace of change and hope for a prosperous future captivates visitors. It’s no wonder that Cape Town is the most popular South African tourist destination.

As the wealthiest nation in Africa, it's rich in natural resources. The gold and diamond industries can be traced back to colonial times. Recently wine, unique wildlife and tourism businesses are important sectors of growth. And in just two years, the country will be the first African nation to host the World Cup Soccer Tournament.

South Africa is abounding in its contrasts. The well-established infrastructure has yet to overcome poverty and HIV/AIDS that are realities for thousands.

The country's 45 million people are diverse. Speaking 11 official languages, and representing cultural traditions from Europe, Africa, and Asia, they form a unique national identity.

Are you ready to uncover the GLA Experience in Cape Town? The program fills up quickly, so apply now to reserve your space.
